
The Department of Political and Social Sciences (SPS) at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence announces the sixth edition of its Summer Academy, which will take place on 1-5 September 2025. It offers talented master’s students in the social sciences, coming from all over Europe, a week of full immersion into the stimulating intellectual environment of research and debates at the EUI.
The theme of the SPS Summer Academy is Democracy, Society & Foreign Affairs: Latest Insights from Political Science, Sociology, and International Relations. The Summer Academy consists of lectures by some of the SPS professors (Jeff Checkel, Stefano Guzzini, Juho Härkönen, Filip Kostelka, Waltraud Schelkle, Arnout van de Rijt), a guided tour to visit the city of Florence, workshops held by postdoctoral fellows, as well as a keynote lecture given by Professor Valentina Di Stasio.
Participation is open to the selected candidates only and is free of charge. In addition, participants from the Widening Countries* will be entitled to a monetary reimbursement of up to EUR 800 for travel and accommodation (10 posts are kept for the non-Widening countries, incl. 5 with a possible support of max. 600€). Doctoral students are not eligible. The application deadline is 1 June.
