An engaging discussion with students of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb on “the prospects of implementation of the EU Digital Services Act in the context of upcoming European elections” was organized on 22 March at the Europe House, with support of the European Parliament Office in Croatia, and with participation of experts from civil society.
The particular focus was on the proposed regulatory framework for vetted researchers’ access to data from very large online platforms and very large search engines. As part of their practical projects, students analysed the positions of key stakeholders in the process of adoption and implementation of the EU DSA. The role of independent researchers and civil society organisations in enhancing public awareness and understanding of the EU DSA's implications is essential.
Barbara Peranic from the European Parliament Office in Croatia made an introductory presentation on the timeline and internal dynamics of adoption of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) from the perspective of the European Parliament. Jelena Berkovic from Faktograf shared her unique perspective on international and national challenges in the implementation of standards set by the DSA.
