for those taking the exam tomorrow:
the exam will be proctored by dr. Dunja Majstorovic. I shall be absent due to a PhD defense at another faculty. As I have already instructed you, you can write either in English or in Croatian but it needs to be consistent.

I shall be back at FPZG at 3.30 PM. You can enter the grade in my office tomorrow, 11/06 from 3.30 to 4 PM, Fabkovićeva, 3rd floor.
I have uploaded the results of your essays.
Those students who presented original case, strong use of references and coherent academic grammar, were awarded for their effort. Those who were graded '5' do not need to take the exam. They are done with the course.
I shall be entering the grades during the first exam date, on 6 June at 2:PM (please ask at the reception what room are we in).
Most of you did really well.
Those studennts whose essays require correction need to re-submit their essays within 7 days from the day when they receive my comments.
If you want to discuss your essay, please email me and you can come to see me in my office next week.

I don't want you to live in suspense :), but it took me longer than expected to correct your essays. I corrected most of them, but I won't be relasing partial results. Therefore, please be patient until I correct all of them; expect to receive your results on Wednesday, 22/05 at the latest.
See you tomorrow!
I have received essays from all students enrolled in the course, with two late submissions and one granted extension. You will receive my feedback until 21 May.
Due to a conference that I need to attend, the class on 28 May will be canceled.
Student presentation scheduled for 28 May will be re-scheduled to 21 May.
please take a look at the following event. It is a concert organized by the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia and will be followed by a panel on Catalan politics.
If you are interested in attending, let me know!
Sincerely, Marijana Grbeša
The Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to South Eastern Europe is pleased to invite you to attend the premiere of “Katalonija, Harmonija”, the latest work of maestro Matej Mestrovic.
The event, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Catalonia, Alfred Bosch, will take place on Wednesday 15th of May, at the Matis bar, Trg Stjepana Radića 3, Zagreb, at 7 pm.
Please confirm your attendance no later than 4 pm on Tuesday, May 14, via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone +385997060314.
because of the panel on EU elections that is taking place at the Faculty of Political Sciences (Room A) on Tuesday, 7 May at 3:15 PM, we shall be canceling the seminar. I am one of the panelists and I invite you to take place in the panel. The working language is Croatian so unfortunatelly, only Croatian students might find it interesting.
Because of this interruption, all seminars scheduled for 7 May will be presented during the first part of the class, normally reserved for lecture (13:45 - 15:15)
On another matter, here is an additional essay question that you may address in your essays:
Music, ideology and political activism. Use your own example to explain how music is used as medium of ideological and political advocacy.
uploaded is the chec list of submitted essays. Plase check your status. It appears that I have not received some of your essay (or you have not sent them).
In case you sent your essay but you are marked red on the list you need to re-send the original e-mail with your submission ASAP!
This does not apply to last year's students who agreed to have their last year's grade entered.
I have started to correct your work and I hope to be able to the deliver first group of results very soon.
I shall have my office hours on Tuesday, 31 May at 12:00.
I have to cancel today's office hours. I shall compensate for them tomorrow, Tuesday 24/05 at 12:00. You can come to see me then.
the list of the articles that you may find useful when writing your essays is now uploaded. I have also uploaded some of the articles from the list. Most of the other readings you can find in the Faculty library or in one of the accessible on- line libraries (SAGE, JSTORE ...).
Best, Marijana Grbeša
we need to arrive to CJA a little before the beginning so that we can be seated. I shall be waiting for you in front of the CJA, Perkovčeva 2, at 13:10. It appears that questions for Glenn Kessler, Washington Post, should be sent to the moderator in advance so if you have a question for him, please e-mail it to me at email@example.com.
Thanks and see you tomorrow!
Tomorrow we shall have a screening of a movie related to our topic Politics and fiction. Therefore we shall have a joint seminar session (both groups together) at 15.30.
See you there!
on May 3 we are not going to have our regular session but instead we are all going to go to Croatian Journalism Association for the video conference of the Washington Post's Glenn Kessler. The conference begins at 13:30 at CJA, Perkovčeva 2. Your presence there will count as a presence both in lecture and seminar. Below you can read main facts about the conference.
I strongly encourage you to think about the questions that you would like to ask Kessler.
About the program:
On May 3, World Press Freedom Day, Glenn Kessler will be on ShareAmerica streaming live, speaking to audiences around the world on issues of journalistic integrity, media sustainability, and ensuring media credibility. Glenn Kessler is a seasoned investigative journalist, businessman, and Washington Post fact-checker columnist. He has a foreign policy background and will discuss best practices as a journalist and his efforts to disseminate factually correct reports in the United States and to call out those who bend the truth. He will be speaking to an audience in Zagreb, Croatia, and answering questions from posts around the world. View the stream live and ask questions to Mr. Kessler in the chatspace on May 3 at 7:30AM EDT/11:30 UTC for 1.5 hours.

unfortunatelly, the Faculty was out of electricity today so I cold not log into the intranet page to let you know that I won't be in my office during my office hours. Those of you who need to see me can come tomorrow, 19/4 before the lecture, at 12:30.
Also, after talking to some of your after our last week's seminars and I decided to offer you another topic for your essay:
8. Marko Perković Thompson's contribution to pop politics. Elaborate.
See you in the class!
in out today's seminars we shall discuss the movie Searching for Sugarman that was screened for you in the class. If you haven't seen the movie it will be difficult for you to participate in the seminar so make sure to learn few facts about the movie before coming to the seminar today.
See you there,
today's lecture will be held by my associate Milica Vučković who is going to screen a movie related to our Music and Politics class and there won't be any seminars. Because of the conference I am attending, next week's lecture and seminars will be canceled and if necessary, compensated later during the term. The first lecture we are going to have in two weeks time is the Music and Politics lecture, which means that we are going to reshuffle our topics a bit. Other lectures will follow as announced in syllabus.

although I still don't have the final list of students, I have much clearer idea about the final number of people sitting in the Pop Politics class. Therefore the first seminar group will include students whose surnames begin with A to K (15:30 - 17:00, classroom C), and the second seminar will include students whose surnames begin with L-Z i.e. Ž (17:00 - 19:30, classroom C).
If you need to switch, please find someone from the other group who is willing to swap places with you.
