ARS: Rex L. Llonora

Advanced Research Seminar with Rex L. Llonora will take place on 19 June at 17:00 (Lecture Room 301). The title of the guest lecture is: "Bridging the Gap: Trust, Conflict and Police Interaction with Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines".

Rex L. Llonora is a Lecturer and Chair of the Department of International Studies at the Institute of Arts and Sciences, Far Eastern University (FEU) Manila. He specializes in security studies, law enforcement, and Indigenous Peoples, and teaches courses on international security and peace studies. He is a member of the Far Eastern University Research Ethics Board, where he serves as a panel reviewer. Prior to joining FEU, he was a faculty member of the National Police College and the Philippine National Police Academy, where he taught courses on police leadership and administration, as well as research in police operations.

An advocate for Indigenous Peoples, he currently serves as a member of the Advisory Council of two Research Committees of the International Political Science Association (IPSA): RC14 Politics and Ethnicity and RC53 Indigenous Politics. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Policy and Management. His dissertation, entitled "Beating the State Enemy: Recalibration of the Philippine National Police Counterinsurgency Operations during the Duterte Administration," examined the evolution of police counterinsurgency strategies and their implications for public policy and governance.
