Biography

Graduated in Political Science at Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb (1990). MSc in Political Science obtained at University of Ljubljana (1994). MA (Econ) in Political Theory obtained at University of Manchester, UK (1995). PhD in Political Science, History and Area Studies obtained at London School of Economics, University of London in 1999, with thesis on "The Breakdown of Elite Consensuse: A Prelude to the Disintegration of Yugoslavia (1974-1990)". Dr Jović was a Jean Monnet Fellow at European University Institute in Florence (2000). From 2000 to 2010 he was Lecturer in Politics at University of Stirling, Scotland (UK). He was founder and Director of the Centre for European Neighbourghood Studies at University of Stirling (2003--2009). Upon returning to University of Zagreb, Faculty of Political Science he was Associate Professor (2009-2014) and Professor (since 2014, confirmed as Professor-Permanent in 2020). From 2012 to 2020. Dr Jović was Editor-in-Chief of Croatian Political Science Review (Politička misao). Since 2018 he is Editor-in-Chief or "Tragovi" ("Footprints"), an academic journal on Serb and Croat issues. Since March 2021 he is President of the Managing Board of Foreign Policy Forum. From 2012 to 2016 he was Head of Department of International Relations and Diplomacy. From 2014 to 2016 Professor Jović was President of the Managing Board of Croatian Institute for International Relations and Development. Dr Jović was Special Advisor to Croatian Ministers of Foreign Affairs and European Issues from 2004 to 2006, and Chief Political Analyst in the Office of the President of Croatia (2010-2014). Professor Jović teaches as Course Coordinator in the following Courses: "International Political Relations", "Politics and Society in Southeast Europe" and "Foreign Policy Analysis". He teaches in both doctoral programmes offered by the Faculty of Political Science. Since 2015 he has been Visiting Professor at Faculty of Political Science at University of Belgrade. He is member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2021.
